Jim Schaefer has been involved in commercial insurance for over three decades. In 1976, he began his career as a Workers’ Compensation Field Claims Representative which laid the foundation for becoming one of Central New York’s most respected insurance representatives.
At Liberty Mutual for 30 years, Jim was responsible for sales and service of large commercial accounts. These accounts ranged from single location risks to complex multi state operations. Extensive experience in Transportation, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Social Services allows Jim to support some of Haylor, Freyer & Coon’s most complex accounts. Jim offers his clients a wealth of knowledge in a wide range of risk financing approaches including Loss Sensitive, Large Deductible and Self Insurance programs.
With the support of an in-house Surety/Bond Department, Loss Control Engineering, Workers’ Compensation Claims Specialists along with a dedicated Large Risk Unit elevates the level of specialty services that Jim can offer each of his clients.
Jim earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1987, as well as Associate in Risk Management (ARM) in 1995. Jim is a graduate of State University College at Potsdam with a degree in Economics.
